SiteLink And US Storage Centers Raise More than $220,000 to Fight Cancer

As the owner of US Storage Centers, Hoeven developed programs that raise funds from within the storage industry, including collecting small contributions from large numbers of tenants at all of his stores.

Today, Barry and his team collect roughly $4,000 per month in tenant contributions from the 40 participating US Storage Centers and affiliated properties. SiteLink offers the automation and reporting necessary to process and track donations at stores and on websites.

Since its 2007 inception, Kure It has raised more than $1 million for research projects focused on kidney cancer and other underfunded malignancies. “Kure It has made a difference for everyone involved,” said Barry Hoeven. “It has also allowed US Storage Centers and other owner/operators to engage customers and build relationships on levels other than self-storage. Like-mindedness and common interest in charitable service often prompts tenants to rent from companies participating in raising money for Kure It.”

Repeat Renters & Referrals

Because repeat renters and referrals often make up 30% or more of new move-ins, Kure It offers substantial profit potential for owners. Increased name recognition, customer loyalty, and employee pride contribute to additional rentals.

“We have received so much positive feedback from tenants and employees who have been impacted by cancer,” said Karen Jones, Kure It’s Director. “Tenants appreciate storing with a company with a culture of giving back. Introducing Kure It to tenants opens a dialogue and provides a connection between staff and tenants.”

Tenant Contributions At Participating Stores

Tenant contributions at participating stores, including their websites, are optional. Customers pay online, or at stores, and add a small recurring donation to their monthly rent. SiteLink eliminates added labor for managers and accounting staff, making the process simple for all involved, from the tenants to the facility personnel to the corporate staff. US Storage Centers has witnessed a positive impact on rentals, and all involved have seen how small contributions add up to a significant impact in the fight against cancer.

More independent storage owners roll out Kure It at their stores after learning about the seamless handling of collections and growing rentals resulting from Kure It’s powerful message.

Tenant Loyalty

"Kure It increases tenant loyalty and offers substantial profit potential for owners,” said Mike Brady, US Storage Centers’ Vice President of Operations. “With SiteLink, Kure It is easy to implement and administer. I encourage storage owners to sign up for Kure It today.”

The features built into SiteLink make it simple for owners and operators to track the charitable donations and administer the program. SiteLink processes contributions automatically and eliminates added work or distractions for store managers. Reports clearly separate donations to prevent added work for accountants and to measure the fast-growing success of Kure It campaigns. “Managing Kure It’s substantial flow of contributions inside SiteLink has to be easy for both managers and accountants,” said Markus Hecker, SiteLink’s COO. “We are flattered to work with US Storage Centers and happily invested development resources to optimize collections both at stores and on their websites.”
